Verify Your Hours

Español | 中文

Thank you for volunteering with us!

The Food Bank verifies hours served volunteering in our programs. Please follow all instructions carefully so that your organization accepts the hours. See below for specifics about recording your hours for court, parking tickets, school, or an employer matching program.

In order to track hours, every person must create their own account and make a reservation before coming to a shift. When attending your reservation, please check in with a staff or on the kiosks (avoid using your own device).

Court Ordered Hours

We have an agreement with the City and County of San Francisco to help with these hours. Only certain staff people at specific locations are authorized to sign off on your hours, please be sure to follow all instructions.

These hours may be served only at the San Francisco Warehouse and Illinois Warehouse. Please let us know before your first shift that your hours are court ordered. Bring your timesheet (provided by the courts) to your shift.

Court ordered hours for other counties are welcome to serve but we cannot guarantee they will accept our documentation.

Please email George Gracia with any questions: ggracia@sfmfoodbank.org.

SFMTA and Parking Tickets

We have an agreement with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to perform community service as an alternative to payment of parking tickets in San Francisco. Only certain staff people at specific locations are authorized to sign off on your hours, please be sure to follow all instructions.

These hours may be served only at the San Francisco Warehouse and Illinois Warehouse. Please let us know before your first shift that your hours are for SFMTA. Bring your timesheet to your shift (provided by SFMTA).

Please email George Gracia with any questions: ggracia@sfmfoodbank.org

School Requirements

We are happy to sign off on hours after a shift but we are unable to print sheets for you. Online verifications are also welcome.

Most schools either have a paper verification you bring with you to a shift or an online system. You submit your hours to school and we will verify once the school contacts us.

Note about Pop-Up Pantries: the paper sign-in sheet takes time to get back to the office, please look for your approved hours the next business day after your shift.

The most common challenges we see in verifying hours are:

  • using a name/email that doesn't match (a nickname rather than a given name, for example)
  • parents making the reservation and recording the hours, rather than the youth
  • not having a reservation but showing up anyway (we can't credit hours if there's no reservation)
  • not checking in for the reservation attended (please check-in on a kiosk or with staff rather than using your device)

Submit hour verification requests to volunteer@sfmfoodbank.org.
