Masks are strongly recommended when volunteering with the Food Bank - more info here. Note that Partner Pantries may have different guidelines.
Thank you for helping the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and our response to COVID-19.
Volunteers will be assigned to manage the line, assist with check in, and pre-pack groceries for distribution. For safety reasons, only volunteers who have reserved a space may volunteer. Walk-ins will not be permitted. Please read these screening questions from the City and County of San Francisco and these guidelines for serving at a Partner Pantry, including the highlights below:
- Partner Pantry masking guidelines may differ from the Food Bank, so please be sure to adhere to their rules. We recommend bringing a mask regardless of your vaccination status, as they may be required. We know that this information is constantly changing and will be updating partner information as changes come up.
- Wear closed-toed shoes
- We will be outside, please wear comfortable clothing (we recommend layers, a hat, and sunscreen due to the ever-changing weather conditions)
- Be aware there will not be a place to store personal belongings, please do not bring valuables
- Please bring a secure lidded water bottle and a snack
- Volunteers must wear gloves at all times (provided by the food bank)
- We ask that any volunteer who does not feel well refrain from attending their volunteer shift
