Pop-Up Pantry Status
Status: CLOSED as of June 6, 2025
Pop-Up Pantries are critical connection points for our community to receive needed groceries - we will make every effort to keep these distributions open for the benefit of our participants.
We plan to continue all of our distributions as long as it is safe to do so and we have sufficient staff and volunteers. When required, this will often mean cancelations will be at the last minute. We encourage you to make decisions around volunteering that prioritize your personal safety and comfort. Should we need to cancel a distribution and volunteer opportunity, we will update this page and notify you via email as soon as possible.
We understand if you are not able to volunteer, we ask only that you cancel your reservation so we have an accurate picture of who and how many to expect.
If you have questions about a pantry operating, please check this page or email volunteer@sfmfoodbank.org.
Thunderstorms
Staff and Volunteer Safety during Thunderstorms (when thunder is audible or lightning visible)
- On-site Supervisors at staff-led distributions will close distribution (at least temporarily) and leave food where it is
- On-site Supervisors will have staff and volunteers seek shelter in a nearby building with electricity or plumbing OR in an enclosed, metal-topped vehicle with the windows up. If safe to do so, SFMFB technology should be gathered and taken to shelter
- Staff and volunteers should stay in safe shelter for at least 30 minutes after hearing the last sound of thunder
- Once in a safe shelter, on-site Supervisors will inform supervisors and discuss re-opening of distribution once lightning threat has passed
Air Quality
The Food Bank will use AQI data from Airnow.gov. There is not a specific AQI value where we will stop distributions, as a proper fitting mask and other PPE may allow us to continue.
Thank you for your service!
